Beautiful Cotswold Gardens

The Cotswolds is a painter's heaven!

Whether you are a seasoned artist... or you have never painted before and have always wanted to learn... join award-winning artist and instructor Lori McNee in May to capture the springtime beauty of the magnificent English countryside and charming historic Cotswold villages... painting en plein air in your own unique style.

Each day we'll feed our creative souls. There will be painting sessions in scenic Cotswold locations. Lori will provide demonstrations and offer individual personal instruction designed to improve your painting skills and expand your art experience. Along with your paintings, you'll take home many treasured memories of a wonderful & fun-filled Cotswold painting holiday and creative adventure.

We'll paint landscapes in the beautiful English countryside filled with rolling green hills... we'll paint in picturesque villages with golden limestone buildings, including Broadway, the former home of artist John Singer Sargent... we'll visit and paint in one of England's most stunning gardens, Hidcote Manor, a National Trust garden surrounded by fields, pastures, and thatched roof houses... and we'll set up our easels at additional scenic Cotswold locations personally-selected by Lori.

Among the picturesque Cotswold sites we'll be painting are:

  • Bibury - one of the Cotswolds' most photographed settings, with the historic Arlington Weaver Cottages, situated on River Coln, a River Thames tributary.

  • Broadway - the famous Cotswold market village located in Worcestershire, with beautiful honey-colored Cotswold limestone buildings, that was once the home of painter John Singer Sargent.

  • Hidcote Manor - the world-famous Cotswold garden and former home of garden designer Lawrence Johnston. An afternoon option for guests is to also visit Kiftsgate Court located across the road from Hidcote.

  • Bourton House - a traditional English manor house with formal gardens and panoramic landscape views. An afternoon option for guests is to also visit Blockley, the hamlet where the BBC/PBS tv show, Father Brown, is filmed.

  • Kelmscott Manor - the former home of William Morris, Father of the Arts & Crafts Movement, located in West Oxfordshire by River Thames

Plus we'll visit some of The Cotswolds most beautiful villages & hamlets - Bourton-on-the-Water, Chipping Campden, and Stanton.

We'll be based in Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire, a historic Cotswold market town filled with charm and enchanted character. We'll stay five nights in The Manor House Hotel, a much-loved 16th century Cotswold inn with just 36 rooms. Today the inn is part of the Cotswold Inns & Hotels luxury hotels collection.

We'll end the tour in Central London, staying Friday night in the elegant and charming Chesterfield Mayfair Hotel, a

quintessentially British luxury hotel.

The tour includes many traditional English extras -- including stopping along the way from London to The Cotswolds to visit a private garden and enjoy tea & cakes with the local citizens... a Gloucestershire welcome dinner with European wines on our first evening in The Cotswolds... happy hour sessions in our Cotswold hotel garden while reviewing the day's creative works with Lori... ending on our final evening in London with a gala farewell dinner with traditional English cuisine and European wines.

There will be personal free time for individual painting... to take leisure walks... explore village boutiques, antique shops and art galleries... patronize classic English pubs... rub shoulders with locals... relax in the hotel garden. On Wednesday evening we'll try to attend bell ringing practice at the local church.

Optional before breakfast group pleasure walks are organized for travelers who want some morning exercise before starting their vacation day.

Non-painter friends and spouses of artists are welcome to join.

Chelsea Flower Show - Please note... timing of the workshop is to be in England close to the world-famous Chelsea Flower Show that begins in London on Tuesday, May 20. Attending the flower show is a wonderful activity for anyone staying in London after the painting trip!
